10_The Showa
good morning.
I'm Nagatani, the designer and coordinator at Marukiku Construction.
We received a request for renovation work from Mr. M in Kariya City.
This is a renovation of a two- story detached house with a lovely courtyard that is about 50 years old.
I went there to take photos to check out the actual place, and I really enjoyed taking photos of the colorful tiles.
Tile-lined bathrooms and toilets were the standard in the Showa era
are made of veneer, which is a retro and nostalgic material. Veneer is a thinly sliced board made from natural wood.
Just looking at it makes my heart dance!
